The 2nd anniversary of the Herostone (Nadukal) was commemorated at Wat Thaworn Wararam, honoring the tens of thousands of Asian civilian forced laborers who perished during the construction of the Burma Railway construction, also known as the Thai-Burma \u201cDeath Railway,\u201d during World War II.<\/p>\n
The ceremony was attended by the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka, H.E Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, together with distinguished dignitaries, including H.E Datuk Wan Zaidi Wan Abdullah, Ambassador of Malaysia, Ms. Waritha Sanguansermsri, Governor of Kanchanaburi, Mr. R. Muthu, Counsellor at the Embassy of India, Air Commodore Vajira Jayakody, Defence Attach\u00e9 of Sri Lanka and Mr. Amigo Sockalinga, writer of the commemorative song \u201cRomusha,\u201d which was launched at the event.<\/p>\n
A key highlight of the ceremony was the address delivered by H.E. the Ambassador,\u00a0 <\/span>Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, who attended as a Special Invited Guest.
