The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok is pleased to announce the ceremonial handover of a seven-foot-tall Buddha statue to the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, at Wat Hatainaresh Temple.<\/p>\n
The donation was made following a request by the Ambassador on behalf of Shri Indraramaya Buddhist temple, Mahadiwulwewa, Trincomalee, in Sri Lanka. Ven. Dr. Walmoruwe Piyarathana Thero, Director of the Faculty of Buddhism, Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, Thailand, coordinated this meritorious initiative.<\/p>\n
The Buddha statue will be shipped to Sri Lanka and installed at the temple in Mahadiwulwewa, Trincomalee, for the benefit of devotees and the local community.<\/p>\n
