Any document issued by the Sri Lankan Institutions should be attested through Electronic Documents Attestation System (E-DAS) of the Consular Affairs Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Sri Lanka located at the following address and needed to produce the electronic customer copy to the Embassy for attestation:

  • Any document issued by a foreign authority or agency will accept for attestation ONLY IF such document is attested by the Foreign Ministry of the document issued country.
  • Only Sri Lankan Citizens could sign Documents / Declarations including Power of Attorney, Affidavits at the Embassy before diplomatic officers / Justice of Peace who are authorized under the Consular Functions Act No. 4 of 1981 to provide this service subjected to payment of relevant as per the Government gazette notification ( English / Sinhala/ Tamil)
  • Person who signs Power of Attorney must present in person with Sri Lankan Passport and valid visa (or Valid Dual Citizenship certificate, if applicable) to the Embassy together with two witnesses (who are Sri Lankan Passport Holders).
  • Relevant official documents should be produced to substantiate the facts given in an Affidavit, Power of Attorney or any other document. In the event of relevant official documents not being produced to substantiate the facts contained in an Affidavit, Power of Attorney or any other document, such document will not be considered for Attestation.
  • Affidavits produced to substantiate the alterations made in identification documents issued by the Government such as Birth Certificates, Marriage Certificates, Death Certificates, Passports, Driving Licenses, National Identity Cards etc. will be attested only if the alterations have been made in the original documents and certified by the issuing authority.
  • Attestation of Documents / Declarations including Affidavit, Power of Attorney signed by a Foreign Citizen are accepted to attest only if such document certified by an authorized authority (Notary) of the country of his /her residence. Those documents must have to be attested by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the country of Residence of the applicant, prior to produce to the Embassy for attestation. 

Instructions for Applicants

To be eligible for obtaining the services of attestation, authentication, and legalization of documents, the applicant should be a Sri Lankan citizen, and should possess valid identification documents and bring all relevant documents to the Embassy in person

Certify Residence, Renew/obtain Driving License, Opening Bank Account

Application Instructions

An affidavit will be attested by the Embassy for the purpose of Certify Residence, Renew/Obtain Driving License, and Opening Bank Account in Thailand and the applicant should be a Sri Lankan citizen, and should bring all relevant documents to the Embassy in person

Documents Required:
  • Duly completed application form for apply for an affidavit for Certify Residence, Renew/Obtain Driving License, Opening Bank Account (Download )
  • Original existing Sri Lankan Passport with valid visa to stay in the country of Residence
  • Original Sri Lanka National Identity Card (N.I.C) or driving license

Sri Lanka Police Clearance Certificate

You can obtain a Police Clearance Certificate from the Police Head Quarters of Sri Lanka for a period or periods of residence in Sri Lanka.

A) Online Submission Of The Applications

All other applicants can submit their application online using the Sri Lanka Police e-services link below. clicking on the link to “submit your application online”

You are encouraged to submission application online to obtain expeditious service than processing manual application.
B) Manual Submission Of The Application
Application for Police Clearance Certificate can be downloaded here as a PDF Document and can be submitted to the Embassy along with the supporting documents.
Required documents:
  1. Two copies of your National Identity Card;
  2. Copy of valid passport;
  3. If you have changed your name or if there are discrepancies in your name or if you need to apply for a Police Clearance report under any other name than the one appear in your National Identity Card or Passport you will have to sworn in an affidavit to confirm your name in such cases affidavit should be attached with the application; a copy of a valid document such as copy of a bank account, driving license etc to prove the existence of such a name should also be attached

Application fee for a single application is 1500 Sri Lankan Rupees and can be paid using VISA/Master/American Express/Ecash when applying online.

For manual submission of applications a payment must be made ONLY in cash (Credits/Debit Cards are not acceptable)

E). Once Your Application Is Accepted By The Embassy:

The application will be forwarded to the Police Head Quarters in Colombo. The Police will then process your application. The Embassy cannot mention or assure a specific time period for issuance of a Police Clearance Certificate

Once we receive your Police Clearance Certificate at this Mission, you will be informed in writing or by phone. You are required to bring the Cash Receipt to this Mission on any working day between 8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. in order to collect your certificate.

If you are unable to collect the certificate personally you should authorize your representative in writing to collect your certificate on your behalf. The representative should provide an authorization letter along with the Cash Receipt and his/her photo identification.

At your request, your certificate may be returned to you by post.

Note: This Mission will not take any responsibility for documents lost in the post.

Submission of forged documents and making false declarations relating to the citizenship status is an offense. Such cases will be reported to relevant authorities and payment will not be refunded. 

Thai Police Clearance Certificate

A Sri Lankan citizen can obtain Thai Police Clearance certificate for the period of stay in Thailand
Documents Required:
  • Application for Thai Clearance Certificate
  • Finger print report
  • Copy of passport
  • Two photographs
Application for Police Clearance Certificate can be obtained as a PDF Document by clicking on the link and can be submitted to the consulate office along with the following supporting documents
Application Fee: 100 THB (To be forwarded to the Royal Thai Police)
Once your application is accepted:
  1. The application will be forwarded to the Royal Thai Police Quarter in Bangkok. The Police will then process your application. The Embassy cannot mention or assure a specific time period for issuance of a Thai Police Clearance Certificate
  2. Once we receive your Thai Police Clearance Certificate, we will forward it by post to the Foreign Ministry in Colombo
Note: This Mission will not take any responsibility for documents lost in the post.

Application fee for a single application is 1500 Sri Lankan Rupees and can be paid using VISA/Master/American Express/Ecash when applying online.

For manual submission of applications a payment must be made ONLY in cash (Credits/Debit Cards are not acceptable)

E). Once Your Application Is Accepted By The Embassy:

The application will be forwarded to the Police Head Quarters in Colombo. The Police will then process your application. The Embassy cannot mention or assure a specific time period for issuance of a Police Clearance Certificate

Once we receive your Police Clearance Certificate at this Mission, you will be informed in writing or by phone. You are required to bring the Cash Receipt to this Mission on any working day between 8.30 a.m. to 3.30 p.m. in order to collect your certificate.

If you are unable to collect the certificate personally you should authorize your representative in writing to collect your certificate on your behalf. The representative should provide an authorization letter along with the Cash Receipt and his/her photo identification.

At your request, your certificate may be returned to you by post.

Submission of forged documents and making false declarations relating to the citizenship status is an offense. Such cases will be reported to relevant authorities and payment will not be refunded. 

Thai Police Clearance Certificate

A Sri Lankan citizen can obtain Thai Police Clearance certificate for the period of stay in Thailand
Documents Required:
  • Application for Thai Clearance Certificate
  • Finger print report
  • Copy of passport
  • Two photographs
Application for Police Clearance Certificate can be obtained as a PDF Document by clicking on the link and can be submitted to the consulate office along with the following supporting documents
Application Fee: 100 THB (To be forwarded to the Royal Thai Police)
Once your application is accepted:
  1. The application will be forwarded to the Royal Thai Police Quarter in Bangkok. The Police will then process your application. The Embassy cannot mention or assure a specific time period for issuance of a Thai Police Clearance Certificate
  2. Once we receive your Thai Police Clearance Certificate, we will forward it by post to the Foreign Ministry in Colombo
