Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Laos, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, recently met with the President of the Lao National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LNCCI), Oudet Souvannavong, to discuss opportunities to enhance bilateral trade and economic cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n

During the meeting, Ambassador Edirisinghe emphasized the potential for increased collaboration in key sectors such as agriculture, textiles, tourism, and technology. She proposed the exchange of trade delegations and active participation in trade fairs hosted in Laos to foster greater business connectivity. Additionally, the Ambassador Edirisinghe suggested organizing a Sri Lanka-Laos Business Forum to bring together businesses from both countries to explore joint ventures and partnerships. <\/p>\n

President of the LNCCI, Oudet Souvannavong, expressed his keen interest in entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with a leading chamber of commerce in Sri Lanka to establish a framework for cooperation and facilitate stronger business ties. He highlighted the importance of enhancing connectivity between business communities and creating more opportunities for trade and investment. <\/p>\n

Both sides agreed on the importance of fostering closer business collaboration and expressed their commitment to taking practical steps to promote bilateral trade and investment. They also acknowledged the potential to leverage Sri Lanka\u2019s strategic location as a gateway to South Asia and Laos\u2019 growing market opportunities. <\/p>\n
