The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Thailand welcomes the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Oxford Chester Uni of Higher Education (OCU), Sri Lanka, and the Institute of Science Innovation and Culture (ISIC) under Rajamangala University of Technology Krungthep (RMUTK), Thailand, marking an important step towards strengthening educational cooperation between the two countries.<\/p>\n
The signing ceremony was held at the ISIC University premises in Bangkok, with the participation of, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe who delivered the keynote address. The Sri Lankan delegation also included Dr. Dulan Hettiarachchi, Director of OCU, and Shiwanthi Abeyratne, Minister Counsellor (Commercial) of the Embassy. The Thai delegation was led by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Yaoping Liu, Director and Founder of RMUTK-ISIC.<\/p>\n
Operating through the Gangaramaya Educational Centre, OCU aims to provide accessible and affordable quality higher education. Through this partnership, Sri Lankan students will have opportunities to pursue international university programmes ranging from Bachelor's to Doctoral (PhD) degrees.<\/p>\n
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Edirisinghe highlighted the longstanding historical and cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand and emphasised the importance of strengthening bilateral relations through educational cooperation and academic partnerships. The programme included an executive meeting between the two institutions, the signing of the MoU, an exchange of souvenirs and a tour of the university premises.<\/p>\n
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Thailand recognises the importance of such partnerships in expanding educational opportunities and fostering closer institutional and people-to-people ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand.<\/p>\n
