Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand, E.A.S Wijayanthi Edirisinghe participated in the Gemports Award 2026 – The Vivid Legacy, Grand Final as the Guest of Honor, held on 15 August 2026 at the Event Hall, Jewelry Trade Center, Bangkok. The Ambassador joined together with General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, former Deputy Prime Minister, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), along with distinguished guests, industry leaders, designers, and representatives from the international gem and jewelry community.

The event brought together jewelry designers from Sri Lanka, Thailand, China, Russia, the Philippines, India, and Malaysia, with more than 250 entries submitted for consideration. Finalists competed across seven categories, showcasing their creativity and technical expertise through Hand Drawing, Digital Drawing, and 3D CAD, with categories ranging from emerging young designers to professional-level participants.

Dr. S.P. Chaminda, Chairman of National Gem & Jewelry Authority of Sri Lanka also attended the event as a member of the jury to select the winners of the contest of Jewelry design competition.

The event also celebrated the achievements of the Gemports Award 2026 winners across all seven categories, while recognizing all finalists for their outstanding creativity, dedication, and contribution to the development of jewelry design on the international stage. 

Thailand’s active role in supporting and advancing the industry demonstrates the country’s strong position and potential as an important international hub for the gem and jewelry sector.

The event was established with the objective of strengthening networks, cooperation, and collaboration among designers, industry professionals, and stakeholders across the global gemstone and jewelry industry. The participation of designers and industry representatives from several countries reflected the growing importance of such platforms in encouraging creativity, innovation, and international cooperation within the industry.
