Ambassador of Sri Lanka Meets with Key Representatives of Advantis Leo Thailand

15 Sri Lankans Rescued from Cybercrime Centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar to be Repatriated on 07 May 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, in close coordination with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Myanmar, has successfully facilitated the rescue of 15 Sri Lankan nationals who had been trafficked and forcibly employed in cybercrime centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar on 06th May 2025. The rescued individuals are scheduled to be repatriated to Sri Lanka on 07 May 2025.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe recently met with the CEO of Advantis Leo Thailand, Randika Perera to discuss Advantis Leo Thailand’s plans for regional expansion with a focus on exploring collaborative opportunities.
Advantis Leo Thailand, a strategic collaboration between Hayleys Advantis Limited and LEO Global Logistics PCL, is a prominent provider of integrated logistics and marine solutions in Thailand and the CLM region (Cambodia, Laos, and Myanmar). With a state-of-the-art distribution center and warehouse established in Bang Plee last year, the company plans to expand its business further into Cambodia and Laos.
During the meeting, Ambassador Edirisinghe offered the Embassy’s support in assisting with these expansion efforts. She also emphasized the Embassy’s commitment to promoting the development of Sri Lanka’s logistics and services sector and highlighted the importance of fostering stronger ties between the two countries in the transportation and logistics industries. General Manager of Operational Excellence at Advantis Leo Thailand, Tissa Fernando and Counsellor (Commercial) of the Embassy, Vireshika Bandara also joined the discussion.
