Sri Lanka–Thailand Medical Partnership to Deliver 71 Free Knee Surgeries
A special Buddhist fundraising event was held in support of a landmark humanitarian medical initiative aimed at enhancing access to orthopedic care in Sri Lanka.

15 Sri Lankans Rescued from Cybercrime Centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar to be Repatriated on 07 May 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, in close coordination with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Myanmar, has successfully facilitated the rescue of 15 Sri Lankan nationals who had been trafficked and forcibly employed in cybercrime centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar on 06th May 2025. The rescued individuals are scheduled to be repatriated to Sri Lanka on 07 May 2025.

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand took part in the prestigious 58th Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar, held at Siam Paragon, Bangkok. The event was officially inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn on 27 February 2025, bringing together diplomatic missions in Thailand to support charitable causes.
The Sri Lanka stall captivated visitors with its vibrant display of Ceylon tea, aromatic spices, and exquisite batik products, offering a glimpse into the rich flavors and cultural heritage of Sri Lanka. The booth featured premium Ceylon tea, spices and showcased beautifully crafted batik products from Sri Lanka.
The Bazaar, organized by the Thai Red Cross Society, is a celebrated annual event. Proceeds from the event will support humanitarian projects and charitable initiatives led by the Thai Red Cross Society under the Royal Patronage.
As a gesture of goodwill, Her Excellency Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, presented a gift of premium Ceylon tea to Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn during the event.
