15 Sri Lankans Rescued from Cybercrime Centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar to be Repatriated on 07 May 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, in close coordination with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Myanmar, has successfully facilitated the rescue of 15 Sri Lankan nationals who had been trafficked and forcibly employed in cybercrime centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar on 06th May 2025. The rescued individuals are scheduled to be repatriated to Sri Lanka on 07 May 2025.

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka participated in the vibrant Cross Culture Weekend: South Asia Edition organized by The House on Sathorn at W Bangkok. This dynamic event celebrated the rich and diverse cultural heritage of South Asia, featuring an extraordinary blend of traditional and contemporary elements.
One of the standout highlights of the event was the participation of Don Ransinghe, co-owner and head of the drinks program at Smoke & Bitters, Matara, Sri Lanka – ranked #29 in Asia’s 50 Best Bars. Don mesmerized attendees with his exceptional mixology skills, crafting innovative beverages that showcased Sri Lanka’s unique flavors infused with modern techniques.
The Cross Culture Weekend offered guests an immersive experience through a curated selection of traditional and modern South Asian cuisines and beverages, reflecting the region’s vibrant cultural essence.
