Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka joins launch of “Love for Humanity” project to commemorate 70th Anniversary of Bilateral Relations with Thailand

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe joined the charity event organized by the Faculty of Medicine, Siriraj Hospital in the Mahidol University. The event was organized to introduce an upcoming charity programme, titled “Love for Humanity” replacement of Knee for selected patients in Kandy Hospital by the medical team of Orthopaedic ​unite of the
Siriraj hospital. This charity programme organized for commemorates the 70th Anniversary of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand and also celebrates the 70th Birthday of Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn. The project will take place 15–21 November 2025 at the National Hospital in Kandy.

Promoting Trade, Investment and Industrial Collaboration between Sri Lanka and Laos

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Laos, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, recently met with the Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce of Laos, Manothong Vongxai, to discuss avenues for enhancing bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Laos.

During the meeting, Ambassador Edirisinghe emphasized the potential to strengthen economic ties between the two countries and outlined key sectors for collaboration, including agriculture, textiles, tourism, and technology. She highlighted Sri Lanka’s strategic location as a gateway to South Asia and its investor-friendly policies, making it an ideal partner for trade and investment.

Ambassador Edirisinghe proposed several initiatives to deepen economic engagement, including the exchange of trade delegations and participation in trade fairs in Laos. She also suggested organizing a Sri Lanka-Laos Business Forum to facilitate connections between businesses from both countries and encourage collaboration in key sectors.

The Deputy Minister of Industry and Commerce of Laos expressed his appreciation for Sri Lanka’s commitment to enhancing bilateral trade and welcomed the initiatives proposed by Ambassador Edirisinghe. He acknowledged the potential for increased collaboration in agriculture, textiles, and tourism.

Both parties agreed on the importance of continuing dialogue and building stronger economic partnerships through joint initiatives.
