Delegation from Sri Lanka Army Logistic Staff School Visits Sri Lanka Embassy in Bangkok
A delegation of 33 members from the Sri Lanka Army Logistic Staff School, paid an official visit to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok on Monday, 18 May 2026, as part of their overseas study tour in Thailand.
Sri Lanka Highlights Victim-Centered Consular Assistance at Regional Dialogue on Transnational Crime and Human Rights
A Regional Dialogue on the Nexus between Transnational Crime and Human Rights was successfully convened in Bangkok on 13–14 May 2026 under the auspices of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Thailand in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and with support from the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC).
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tea Board celebrated International Tea Day 2026 on 21 May 2026 at the Hyatt Regency Sukhumvit, Bangkok, with the participation of distinguished guests from the Thai Government, diplomatic corps, business community, hospitality sector, academia, media, and friends of Sri Lanka.
The event was organised to promote world-renowned Ceylon Tea while highlighting Sri Lanka’s rich tea heritage, sustainability efforts, and the longstanding friendship and cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
Delivering the welcome address, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe highlighted the significance of International Tea Day and the important role played by the tea industry in supporting livelihoods, empowering communities, and strengthening people-to-people connections across the world. The Ambassador also underscored that this is the second consecutive event organized by the Embassy exclusively to promote world-renowned Ceylon Tea in Thailand, and is pleased to witness the increasing interest and demand for premium Ceylon Tea and other Sri Lankan products among Thai consumers and businesses.
A special recorded message by Mr. R. K. Obeyesekere, Chairman of the Sri Lanka Tea Board, was screened during the event, emphasizing the global reputation, quality, and authenticity of Ceylon Tea as well as Sri Lanka’s continued commitment towards sustainability and excellence within the tea industry.
Guests were also invited to view a special video presentation on Sri Lanka’s tea heritage, showcasing the journey of Ceylon Tea from the lush tea plantations of Sri Lanka to consumers around the world.
Adding a vibrant cultural dimension to the evening, students of Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University performed a cultural dance item to Sri Lankan music, symbolizing the strong cultural understanding and friendship between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The event concluded with a networking session and Sri Lankan dinner reception featuring authentic Sri Lankan cuisine paired with premium Ceylon Tea, offering guests an opportunity to experience the unique flavours and diversity of Sri Lanka’s tea and culinary traditions.
Sri Lankan tea exporters and traders, including Dilmah Tea, Stassen Tea, Inter Beverages, Ceyland Tea, and Serene Tea Garden, generously supported the event by providing a selection of premium Ceylon Tea samples for serving, display, and giveaways, further enhancing the experience for guests and promoting the excellence of Sri Lanka’s tea industry.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok remains committed to further promoting Ceylon Tea in Thailand while strengthening economic, cultural, and people-to-people ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
