An official invitation was recently extended to Mrs. World 2025 from Thailand, Ms. Chanita Seedaket Craythorne, inviting her to visit Sri Lanka as the Guest of Honour at the launch ceremony of Mrs. Sri Lanka World 2026.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka Honoured with the Distinguished Dhamma Award at the Ceremony of the Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus Training Programme in Thailand
The Certificate Conferment Ceremony of the Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus Training Programme Class 32, Dhammaduta Certificate Programme Class 3, and Vipassana Meditation Certificate Programme (International Programme) Class 2 was held on 4 June 2026 at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, in Thailand. During the ceremony, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, H.E. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe was honoured with the Distinguished Dhamma Award in recognition of her contribution and support towards the promotion of Buddhist relations and cooperation.
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand highlighted the growing partnership between Sri Lanka and Thailand in the areas of education, professional development, and capacity building at the Closing Ceremony of the Professional Development Programme on “Women Leadership in the Banking Sector”, held on 27 June 2026 at the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand.
The programme, organized by AIT Extension in collaboration with BIMT Sri Lanka, brought together banking professionals from Sri Lanka for an intensive learning experience focused on leadership development, strategic management, decision-making, innovation, executive engagement, and exposure to best practices in Thailand.
Addressing the ceremony, H.E. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand emphasized that the initiative represents a meaningful example of the strong and expanding cooperation between Sri Lanka and Thailand, particularly in empowering professionals and strengthening leadership capabilities for the future.
The Ambassador highlighted the importance of promoting women’s leadership as an essential element in building stronger and more inclusive institutions. She noted that investing in the skills, confidence, and capabilities of women professionals contributes not only to organizational advancement but also to the broader economic and social development of societies.
The collaboration between the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand and AIT Thailand continues to serve as a platform for fostering closer people-to-people and institutional linkages between the two countries. Through AIT’s internationally recognized expertise in education, research, and professional development, Sri Lankan professionals are provided with valuable opportunities to enhance their knowledge, strengthen their leadership skills, and gain international exposure.
The Ambassador further expressed appreciation to the leadership of AIT, including Professor Pai-Chi Li, President of AIT, the AIT Extension team, BIMT Sri Lanka, and the Commercial Bank of Sri Lanka for their commitment and support in making this initiative a success.
The completion of the first group marks the beginning of a continued partnership, with a second programme scheduled for August 2026 and further initiatives expected in the future. This collaboration is anticipated to create additional opportunities for professional growth and strengthen cooperation between Sri Lanka and Thailand in human resource development.
