Ambassador of Sri Lanka in Bangkok Meets with UNODC Regional Representative to Address Transboundary Human Trafficking Issues

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe met with the UNODC Regional Representative for Southeast Asia and the Pacific, Masood Karimipour on 09 th January 2025, to discuss the pressing issue of emerging transboundary human trafficking challenges in the region. Regional Representative was accompanied by Rebecca Miller, Regional Programme Coordinator for Human Trafficking and Migrant Smuggling. The First Secretary and the Head of Chancery A.W. S Samanmali also joined the discussion.

The Cabinet approved the draft notification of the Ministry of Interior on a second automatic visa extension for foreigners to stay temporarily in Thailand. Foreigners whose visas have expired as of 26 March 2020 will be permitted to stay until 31July 2020 without having to apply for an extension.
