Strengthening Post-Disaster Recovery Cooperation: Ambassador of Thailand Meets Executive Director of ADPC
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe had a meeting with Mr. Aslam Perwaiz, Executive Director of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) at the ADPC premises, to discuss continued cooperation in post-disaster recovery and long-term resilience building in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. her sincere appreciation for the timely technical and monetary assistance extended by ADPC in response to the impacts of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused widespread damage across several parts of Sri Lanka. The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, Thailand ceremonially commenced work for the year 2026 on 02 January, in keeping with government directives on the commencement of duties of public institutions for the New Year.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, met with a team of potential investors interested in exploring business opportunities in Sri Lanka. The discussion centered around key potential investment sectors in Sri Lanka with a focus on fostering long term collaboration.
The Embassy and Permanent Mission delivered a comprehensive presentation highlighting the current investment opportunities in Sri Lanka, emphasizing the country’s strategic location, investor-friendly policies and emerging economic potential. The presentation underscored why Sri Lanka remains an attractive destination for foreign investment.
The investors expressed keen interest in exploring energy projects, including renewable energy and power generation, as well as ventures in fertilizer manufacturing, given Sri Lanka’s agricultural sector’s growing demand.
The meeting also included discussions on expanding collaboration in tourism, education, and cultural exchanges, recognizing the synergies between the two countries and the potential to strengthen bilateral ties further.
This meeting reaffirmed the Embassy’s commitment to promoting Sri Lanka as a hub for trade, investment, tourism and cultural collaboration, while supporting initiatives that contribute to sustainable economic growth.
