A highlight of the forum was the international panel discussion on the theme “Women in Diplomacy and Global Leadership in a Changing World,” featuring four distinguished Ambassadors, including Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, alongside the Ambassadors of Guatemala, Romania, and Hungary.
In her remarks, the Ambassador underscored that diplomacy is fundamentally rooted in dialogue, cooperation, and mutual understanding among nations. She emphasized that integrity, professionalism, respect for diversity, and empathy are essential leadership qualities in navigating today’s complex global landscape. Reflecting on her experience, she noted the importance of bridging local realities with global priorities, ensuring that international policies remain responsive to the needs of communities.
Addressing the role of women in diplomacy, the Ambassador highlighted the significant progress made in recent years, with more women assuming leadership roles and contributing meaningfully to international decision-making. She stressed that women’s leadership brings valuable perspectives that strengthen inclusive and balanced diplomatic engagement, while also inspiring future generations to pursue careers in public service.
The discussion further explored how women leaders can empower young women and entrepreneurs by serving as role models, fostering mentorship, and creating opportunities for skills development and global exposure. Ambassador noted that diplomatic missions play a key role in connecting students and entrepreneurs with international networks, platforms, and partnerships, enabling them to expand their ideas onto the global stage.
