Sri Lankan Women Group Visits Thailand for Temporary Observation of Ten Precepts on International Women’s Day
A historic religious and cultural event took place in Thailand as a group of 50 Sri Lankan women visited the Kingdom to undertake the temporary observation of the Ten Precepts (Dasa-Sila), marking one of the first occasions in the recent past that a women’s group from Sri Lanka has participated in such a spiritual programme in Thailand.
Embassy of Sri Lanka Participates in “Ambassador for a Day 2026” initiative, in connection with International Women’s Day
The “Ambassador for a Day 2026” initiative is organized by the Women Ambassadors Group in partnership with United Nations in Thailand and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, together with diplomatic missions and UN agencies based in Thailand. The 2026 edition was held under the theme “Ensuring and strengthening access to justice for all women and girls.”
Information on Sri Lankan citizens who were living in partially resettled/non- resettled areas in Jaffna, Kilinochchi and Mannar Districts in the Northern Province and are currently living overseas is being collected by the Election Commission to register their names on the Electoral Register.
