Sri Lanka Permanent Representative Vice Chairs the High-Level Regional Consultation on Financing for Development in Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok

The High-Level Regional Consultation on Financing for Development in Asia and the Pacific concluded on 18.12.2024 at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok. The two-day event, held on 17 and 18 December 2024, brought together representatives from member states, international organizations, development partners, and other key stakeholders to discuss critical financing issues and strategies to accelerate progress toward sustainable development in the region.

Sri Lanka participated at the 76th Session of the Commission of the ESCAP CS76 and strongly supports the theme study on Oceans SDGs Leave No One Behind and co-sponsored the resolution on ‘Strengthening cooperation to promote the conservation and sustainable use of the oceans, seas and marine resources for sustainable development in Asia and the Pacific’

🌊 A healthy ocean is a prerequisite to secure the livelihoods of people & ⤴️ SDG progress in Asia Pacific. Delegates are fishing for solutions & opportunities for stronger 🤝at CS76 with a deep dive into sustainable shipping, fishing, efforts to tackle plastic pollution and boost data capacities.
