Visa Information
The Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo has re-launched an online visa appointment system. From 10 November 2022, all visa applicants are required to make an appointment to submit visa applications through the online visa appointment system.

Visa appointment confirmation must be printed and attached to the application. The Embassy will NOT accept any application without appointment confirmation generated via the online visa appointment system.

IMPORTANT NOTICE
Thailand introduces new free visa system and two other new categories of visa with effect from 15th July 2024
1. New Free Visa:
Thailand implemented visa free entry for 93 countries including Sri Lanka for the purpose of tourism, business engagements or urgent work or ad-hoc work for 60 days that can be extended for another period not exceeding 30 days. Foreign nationals are eligible to apply for a new type of visa in Thailand before the maximum stay of 90 days.
2. Destination Thailand Visa (DTV):
5 years multiple entry visa (180 days per entry) can be applied by digital nomads, remote workers, freelancers and participants in activities such as Muay Thai courses, Thai cooking classes, sports training, medical treatment, seminars and music festivals. Spouses and dependent children of DTV holders are also eligible to apply for this visa.
3. Non-immigrant Education Visa (Non-ED Plus Visa):
Aimed at facilitating international students studying at universities in Thailand at the bachelor’s degree level or higher. Foreign students during the course of study can depart and re-enter Thailand without the need for a re-entry permit.

Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports
As per the Agreement signed between Thailand and Sri Lanka on Visa Exemption for Holders of Diplomatic and Official Passports is effective on 14 February 2014, holders of valid diplomatic or official passports of each country shall not be required to obtain a visa to enter, exit, transit and stay in each country for a period not exceeding 90 days from the date of their entry, provided that they shall not take up any employment, be itself-employment, or any other private activity in each country
