All International Airports in Sri Lanka
Sri Lanka and Thailand Strengthen Educational Ties During Ministerial Visit
As part of his official visit to Thailand, Hon. Dr. Upali Pannilage, Minister of Rural Development, Social Security and Community Empowerment of Sri Lanka, led a delegation to meet with Associate Professor Khunying Sumonta Promboon, President and the academic staff of the Chitralada Technology Institute, on 22 April 2026.
82nd Session of ESCAP Concludes with Strong Regional Commitments: Sri Lanka Highlights Active Engagement
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, Thailand, Sri Lanka actively participated in the 82nd Session of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific, held from 20 to 24 April 2026, reaffirming its commitment to advancing inclusive, resilient, and sustainable development across the Asia-Pacific region.
Director General of Civil Aviation has issued a statement for all airlines as follows,
URGENT and IMPORTANT
TO ALL AIRLINES
Further to Communication 15, all online and offline carriers are informed that according to instructions received from Sri Lanka Health Authorities, all international Airports in Sri Lanka will continue to be closed for the operation of inbound international commercial passenger flights (i.e. arrivals) until 2359hrs on 7 April 2020 (local time in Sri Lanka).This closure will be reviewed by the Sri Lanka Authorities.
During the closure period the following will be permitted:
1. Aircraft Departures with passengers originating from Colombo, Stop overs, transit passengers or visiting tourists.
2. Emergency Diversions to BIA
3. Freighter Operations and humanitarian flights to BIA
4. Technical landings at BIA
5. Inbound ferry flights (without passengers) at BIA
Airlines are strictly instructed to follow the above instructions and the other instructions sent previously contained in communications 1-15.
