Strengthening Post-Disaster Recovery Cooperation: Ambassador of Thailand Meets Executive Director of ADPC

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe had a meeting with Mr. Aslam Perwaiz, Executive Director of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) at the ADPC premises, to discuss continued cooperation in post-disaster recovery and long-term resilience building in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. During the meeting, H.E. the Ambassador expressed
her sincere appreciation for the timely technical and monetary assistance extended by ADPC in response to the impacts of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused widespread damage across several parts of Sri Lanka. In this regard, the Ambassador formally handed over a Letter of Acknowledgement from Hon. H M Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign
Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka to the Executive Director of ADPC, conveying the Government of Sri Lanka’s appreciation for ADPC’s support and solidarity.

Sri Lankan School Chess Players Shine at the 18th Asian School Chess Championships in Bangkok

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lankan in Bangkok hosted a vibrant Christmas celebration on 21st December 2024, bringing together the local Sri Lankan community.

During her opening speech, Ambassador and Permanent Representative Wijayanthi Edirisinghe emphasized the importance of multi-religious and multicultural concepts that resonate with the spirit of Christmas. Father David from Holy Redeemer Church of Bangkok also delivered heartfelt religious observances, reminding everyone of the true essence of the holiday season.

Ambassador Wijayanthi Edirisinghe remarked, “Let us take a moment to reflect on the values of peace and goodwill that are central to Christmas—values that we can all carry with us into the new year. May this season inspire us to continue to spread kindness and to be a source of support to those in need.”

The highlight of the event was a captivating Christmas carol performance featuring staff members of the Embassy and talented students from Chulalongkorn University.
In addition to the carol performances, guests enjoyed traditional Sri Lankan cuisine and engaging cultural displays that highlighted the rich heritage of Sri Lanka. The celebration served as a platform for cultural exchange and strengthened the connections among participants.

The event marked, fostering connections and celebrating the diverse cultures that enrich the Sri Lankan community in Thailand.
