Sri Lanka and Thailand Discuss Strengthening Labour Cooperation

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, met with the Minister of Labour of Thailand, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn on 10th March 2025 to discuss strengthening labour cooperation between the two countries. The meeting was held in a spirit of mutual collaboration and reinforced the long-standing bilateral relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand, particularly in the areas of trade, tourism, and labour cooperation.

Sri Lanka and Lao PDR Strengthen Cultural and Tourism Cooperation

The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, concurrently accredited to Lao People’s Democratic Republic (PDR), Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, met with the Minister of Information, Culture, and Tourism of Lao PDR Suanesavanh Vignaket, in Vientiane. The meeting underscored the strong cultural and diplomatic ties between Sri Lanka and Lao PDR, particularly in the realms of Theravāda Buddhism, tourism, and cultural cooperation.

‘A group of 69 Sri Lankans including students, short term visitors who have been stranded nearly two months in various parts of Thailand and several others on humanitarian grounds were repatriated to Sri Lanka in a special Maldivian Airlines charter flight organized by the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok on 17 May 2020. Sincere appreciation to Ministry of Foreign Relations, Sri Lanka, Presidential Secretariat, Sri Lanka, Civil Aviation Authorities in Sri Lanka and Thailand, Royal Thai Embassy in Colombo, Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Thailand, IOM Thailand, Sri Lanka Association in Thailand, Thai-Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and all volunteers for supporting these Sri Lankans’ H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand
