Sri Lanka Embassy Connects Businesses to Boost Economic Ties with Cambodia
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand accredited to Cambodia successfully organized a networking meeting to connect Sri Lankan companies based in Cambodia with businesses interested in exploring opportunities in this dynamic market on 22nd January 2025. The meeting was attended by representatives from CAMCEM Co. Ltd., the Sri Lanka Association for Software and Services Companies (SLASSCOM), and around 20 Sri Lankan businesses operating in Cambodia, alongside companies keen to expand into the Cambodian market.

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, met with Chomphol Phornchindarak, President of the Thai Gem and Jewelry Traders Association (TGJTA), to discuss strengthening collaboration between Sri Lanka and Thailand in the gem and jewellery industry on 21st January 2025. The meeting was attended by members of the TGJTA Board of Directors and prominent Sri Lankan gem and jewellery traders who are based in Bangkok.


Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, met with Kriengkrai Thiennukul, Chairman of the Federation of Thai Industries (FTI), on 10 th January 2025 to discuss enhancing trade, investment, tourism and industrial collaboration between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
During the meeting, Ambassador Edirisinghe expressed her appreciation for the Chairman’s time and the opportunity to engage in meaningful dialogue. She acknowledged FTI’s pivotal role in driving Thailand’s industrial growth and highlighted the Embassy’s commitment to deepening bilateral collaboration.
Ambassador Edirisinghe emphasized the potential for strengthening bilateral trade ties and outlined key opportunities for Thai investors in Sri Lanka, including tourism-related projects, value-added agriculture and export-oriented investments leveraging Sri Lanka’s untapped agricultural potential. She also highlighted logistics and infrastructure development facilitated by Sri Lanka’s strategic location in the Indian Ocean, gemstone mining and processing, where Sri Lanka holds global leadership and presents immense opportunities for Thai investors and renewable energy projects aligned with Sri Lanka’s focus on sustainability.
Chairman Thiennukul warmly welcomed the discussions and highlighted the Federation of Thai Industries’ commitment to fostering deeper collaboration between Thailand and Sri Lanka. He expressed FTI’s readiness to serve as a bridge, connecting potential industrialists and investors from both nations to explore synergies and promote mutually beneficial ventures. He also highlighted the Federation’s robust network of industry leaders and its ability to facilitate meaningful engagements that can drive industrial and economic growth in both countries.
The meeting reaffirmed the commitment of both parties to fostering economic partnerships and leveraging the strengths of Sri Lanka and Thailand for mutual growth. Counsellor (Commercial) of the Embassy Vireshika Bandara also joined the discussion.
