On 26th June 2024, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP), C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne and Spouse Mr. Stephen Senanayake was granted an audience by His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua (Rama X) and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana of the Kingdom of Thailand to bid farewell at the Amphorn Royal Palace.
Commemorating the 25th Anniversary of UN Proclamation of the International Day of Vesak, Sri Lanka gifts an Art work of ‘Sri Dalada Perahera’ to UNESCAP for displaying at the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC) in Bangkok
At the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC),Bangkok, on the Visakha Pooja Day, 22nd May 2022 (22May Vesak 2567 BE), commemorating the 25th Anniversary of United Nations Proclamation of the International Day of Vesak, Ambassador of Sri Lanka and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, C. A. Chaminda I. Colonne, handed over a magnificent traditional Art work of ‘Sri Dalada Perahera’ to the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations & Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana to display at the UNCC in Bangkok.
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok joined the International Charity product expo of the year “57th Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar” under the theme “Shop for a Cause” at Siam Paragon, Bangkok from 17-19 May 2024, organized by the Thai Red Cross Society in collaboration with the spouses of the Ambassadors in Bangkok. The spouse of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Stephen Senanayake was a member of the organizing committee and Co-Director of the raffle draw. For the very first time Thai Red Cross souvenirs and raffle tickets were purchased all over the world through online platform iredcross.org.
The Bazaar was inaugurated on 17th May 2024 by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn of the Kingdom of Thailand, the Chairperson of the Thailand Red Cross Society.
Products from National Crafts Council and Ceylon tea from Eswaran Brothers Exports (Pvt) Ltd, Ranfer Teas (Pvt) Ltd and Basilur Tea (Pvt) Ltd garnered admiration and high demand from both Thai and international visitors.
At a Press conference held prior to the event, the Sri Lanka’s products were introduced and promoted through TV channels in Thailand. The contributions from the participating Embassies will support various charitable projects in Thailand under Royal Patronage.
