Strengthening Post-Disaster Recovery Cooperation: Ambassador of Thailand Meets Executive Director of ADPC
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe had a meeting with Mr. Aslam Perwaiz, Executive Director of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) at the ADPC premises, to discuss continued cooperation in post-disaster recovery and long-term resilience building in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. During the meeting, H.E. the Ambassador expressed
her sincere appreciation for the timely technical and monetary assistance extended by ADPC in response to the impacts of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused widespread damage across several parts of Sri Lanka. The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, Thailand ceremonially commenced work for the year 2026 on 02 January, in keeping with government directives on the commencement of duties of public institutions for the New Year.
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand, in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board (EDB) organized Sri Lanka’s participation at the Thailand Smart City Expo 2024, held from 06-08 November 2024 in Bangkok. This event, hosted by Thailand’s Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA) in association with N.C.C. Management and Development Co. Ltd, serves as Southeast Asia’s largest exhibition dedicated to smart city innovations and emerging technologies.
The Thailand Smart City Expo 2024 brings together international stakeholders, innovators, and industry leaders focused on advancing smart city solutions across critical areas such as smart telecommunications, energy, living, industry and retail, mobility, environment, and healthcare.
Through concerted efforts, the Embassy successfully secured complimentary booths for Sri Lankan exhibitors at this year’s Expo. Representing Sri Lanka, Venora Lanka Power Panels (Pvt) Ltd and Azend Technologies (Pvt) Ltd participated in this three day event, presenting their innovative solutions in smart energy management, automation, and telecommunications.
Sri Lanka’s participation at the Thailand Smart City Expo 2024 showcased the country’s growing expertise in smart technology and highlighted its competitive capabilities in the rapidly evolving global technology landscape.
