Sri Lanka successfully participate
at the 67th YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar 2022 in Bangkok
Strengthening Buddhist Heritage Diplomacy: Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Thailand Delivers a Lecture at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to UNESCAP in Bangkok, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, was invited to deliver a lecture on “Guardians of the Dhamma: The Role of Buddhism in Sri Lanka and Anagarika Dharmapala’s Pioneering Efforts to Preserve Buddhagaya” at the Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, one of Thailand’s foremost centres of Buddhist higher education on 17 March 2026.
Ambassador Hosts Ms. Sri Lanka 2025 to Promote Cultural and Creative Collaboration Between Sri Lanka and Thailand
The Ambassador & Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, recently hosted Ms. Sri Lanka 2025, Prathiba Liyanarachchi, at the Official Residence of the Ambassador in Bangkok. The meeting was attended by members of the Embassy staff and several Sri Lankan ladies residing in Thailand.
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Spices and Allied Products Marketing Board, National Crafts Council, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Industrial Development Board, Handicrafts Board and Sri Lanka Tea Board, successfully participated at the 67 th YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar from 29 th September to 02 nd October 2022 at the Central World, Bangkok with the aim to promote Sri Lanka’s exports in Thailand.
The Bazaar was organised by the YWCA of Bangkok jointly with the spouses of the Heads of Mission in Bangkok, spouse of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Stephen Senanayake, was inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali’s representative, His Serene Highness Ticomporn Yugala.
The event was participated by 37 Embassies consisted of 177 booths which attracted over 14,000 visitors during its 04 days.
Donations from the participating Embassies will help to promote the quality of life for children, women and the underprivileged in many aspects such as education, career, infrastructure and the environment as well as those suffering from disasters in Thailand.
Prior to the event, the Sri Lanka’s products were promoted through TV channels in Thailand; Channel 3HD, Channel 7HD, Channel 5HD, Thai PBS, and Youtube.
Sri Lanka booth with spices, handicrafts, Ceylon tea, food items, cosmetics and many other was highly admired and attracted by Thai and International visitors.

Chairman National Crafts Council Sampath Ellepola also joined the event. Ambassador & Permanent Representative Chaminda Colonne accompanied by Chairman Ellepola and First Secretary (Commercial) Vireshika Bandara had discussions with the Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) in Bangkok and the Support Arts and Crafts Promotion Institute of Thailand (SACIT) in Ayutthaya on future collaboration.
