At the United Nations Conference Centre (UNCC),Bangkok, on the Visakha Pooja Day, 22nd May 2022 (22May Vesak 2567 BE), commemorating the 25th Anniversary of United Nations Proclamation of the International Day of Vesak, Ambassador of Sri Lanka and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, C. A. Chaminda I. Colonne, handed over a magnificent traditional Art work of ‘Sri Dalada Perahera’ to the Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations & Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana to display at the UNCC in Bangkok.

Sri Lanka Embassy in Bangkok joins the “57th Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar” inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok joined the International Charity product expo of the year “57th Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar” under the theme “Shop for a Cause” at Siam Paragon, Bangkok from 17-19 May 2024, organized by the Thai Red Cross Society in collaboration with the spouses of the Ambassadors in Bangkok. The spouse of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Stephen Senanayake was a member of the organizing committee and Co-Director of the raffle draw. For the very first time Thai Red Cross souvenirs and raffle tickets were purchased all over the world through online platform iredcross.org.

Sri Lanka successfully participate at the 67th YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar 2022 in Bangkok

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the Spices and Allied Products Marketing Board, National Crafts Council, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Industrial Development Board, Handicrafts Board and Sri Lanka Tea Board, successfully participated at the 67 th YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar from 29 th September to 02 nd October 2022 at the Central World, Bangkok with the aim to promote Sri Lanka’s exports in Thailand.

The Bazaar was organised by the YWCA of Bangkok jointly with the spouses of the Heads of Mission in Bangkok, spouse of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka Stephen Senanayake, was inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Soamsawali’s representative, His Serene Highness Ticomporn Yugala.

The event was participated by 37 Embassies consisted of 177 booths which attracted over 14,000 visitors during its 04 days.

Donations from the participating Embassies will help to promote the quality of life for children, women and the underprivileged in many aspects such as education, career, infrastructure and the environment as well as those suffering from disasters in Thailand.

Prior to the event, the Sri Lanka’s products were promoted through TV channels in Thailand; Channel 3HD, Channel 7HD, Channel 5HD, Thai PBS, and Youtube.

Sri Lanka booth with spices, handicrafts, Ceylon tea, food items, cosmetics and many other was highly admired and attracted by Thai and International visitors.

Products from Spices and Allied Products Marketing Board, National Crafts Council , Handicrafts Board, Aromatic Global Pvt Ltd, Amila Foods, Ceylon Spice Cart (Pvt) Ltd, Candle House Ceylon, CN Ceramic, DN Interior Designs (Pvt) Ltd, Dheebam, Earth Natural (Pvt) Ltd, Greens Flower Design (Pvt) Ltd, Hilma Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Heritancy Manufacturers, Hemira Ceramics, Iresha Spice Lanka (Pvt) Ltd, Jafferjee Brothers, JFS Holdings, Kamroo Apparels, Kiyoto Coffee Company, Laklo Lanka Pvt Ltd, Laura, Maya Handicrafts, Orbit world International, RHS Bee Honey, Ranfer Group, Rochand Agro Pharma (Pvt) Ltd, Rancrisp Marketing (Pvt) Ltd, Suravi Health to Wealth, Sinharaja Herbs (Pvt) Ltd, Suravi holding (Pvt) Ltd, Teema Biscuits Manufacturers, Uva Bee Honey Industries (Pvt) Ltd, Wild Rabbits Products and YMJ Products were showcased, promoted and sold during the Bazaar.

Chairman National Crafts Council Sampath Ellepola also joined the event. Ambassador & Permanent Representative Chaminda Colonne accompanied by Chairman Ellepola and First Secretary (Commercial) Vireshika Bandara had discussions with the Community Development Department, Ministry of Interior, Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA) in Bangkok and the Support Arts and Crafts Promotion Institute of Thailand (SACIT) in Ayutthaya on future collaboration.
