Sri Lanka successfully participates at the 56th Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar in Bangkok, inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn
Thai National Secretary-General Reaffirms Commitment to Combat Human Trafficking and Rescue Victims in Myanmar
Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, called on Mr. Chatchai Bangchuad, Secretary-General of the National Security Council (NSC) of Thailand on 10.01.2025. The meeting focused on fostering greater collaboration in the area of security and addressing shared challenges affecting both nations and the region.
Sri Lanka and Thailand Strengthens Defence Cooperation
Ambassador and Permanent Representative Wijayanthi Edirisinghe met with General Nipat Thonglek, Vice Minister for the Office of the Prime Minister of Thailand, to discuss on strengthening defence cooperation between Sri Lanka and Thailand mainly focusing human trafficking issues. The meeting, held in Bangkok on 09.01.2024, was also attended by senior officials from Thailand’s National Intelligence Agency and the National Security Council.
Recently, the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the National Crafts Council, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Spices and Allied Products Marketing Board, Industrial Development Board, Handicrafts Board (Laksala) and Ceylon tea exporters; Ranfer Teas (Pvt) Ltd, Basilur Tea (Pvt) Ltd, Eswaran Brothers Exports (Pvt) Ltd and Raffles Consolidated (Pvt) Ltd, successfully participated at the 56th Diplomatic Red Cross Bazaar at Siam Paragon, Bangkok with the aim to promote and showcase Sri Lankan products in Thailand.
The Bazaar was organised by the Thai Red Cross Society jointly with the spouses of the Ambassadors in Bangkok under the “Shop and Share” concept and inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn.
Her Royal Highness Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was impressed with Sri Lankan spices, handicrafts, food items, cosmetics and Ceylon Tea etc. which were also admired and attracted by Thai and International visitors.
Prior to the event, the Sri Lanka’s products were promoted through TV channels in Thailand.
The event was participated by 55 Diplomatic Missions in Thailand, consisted of 176 booths which attracted especially the elite society in Thailand in its 04 days. Donations from the participating Embassies will help to conduct various charity projects in Thailand under the Royal Patronage.
