Strengthening Post-Disaster Recovery Cooperation: Ambassador of Thailand Meets Executive Director of ADPC

The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe had a meeting with Mr. Aslam Perwaiz, Executive Director of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) at the ADPC premises, to discuss continued cooperation in post-disaster recovery and long-term resilience building in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. During the meeting, H.E. the Ambassador expressed
her sincere appreciation for the timely technical and monetary assistance extended by ADPC in response to the impacts of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused widespread damage across several parts of Sri Lanka. In this regard, the Ambassador formally handed over a Letter of Acknowledgement from Hon. H M Vijitha Herath, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign
Employment and Tourism of Sri Lanka to the Executive Director of ADPC, conveying the Government of Sri Lanka’s appreciation for ADPC’s support and solidarity.

The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in collaboration with the National Crafts Council, Sri Lanka Export Development Board, Spices and Allied Products Marketing Board, Industrial Development Board, Handicrafts Board (Laksala), Ceylon Cinnamon exporter; Excellensa Impex (Pvt) Ltd, Ceylon tea exporters; Basilur Tea (Pvt) Ltd, Ranfer Teas (Pvt) Ltd, and Eswaran Brothers Exports (Pvt) Ltd successfully participated at the 78th YWCA Diplomatic Charity Bazaar 2023 at Central World, Bangkok from 16-19 November 2023, with the aim to promote and showcase Sri Lankan products in Thailand.

The Bazaar was organised by the YWCA Bangkok jointly with the spouses of the Ambassadors in Bangkok and inaugurated by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya’s representative H.E. Chirayu Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, Privy Councillor.

Prior to the event, Sri Lankan products were promoted through TV channels in Thailand.

Sri Lanka booth with spices, handicrafts, Ceylon tea and many others was highly admired and attracted by Thai and International visitors.

The event was participated by 40 Diplomatic Missions in Thailand, consisted of 175 booths. Donations from the participating Embassies will help to conduct charity projects to develop and promote the quality of life of children, women and underprivileged in various aspects such as education, occupation, infrastructure, environment and to help those which have suffered from disasters.
