“Gem Sri Lanka 2027” Launch Strengthens Sri Lanka – Thailand Gem and Jewellery Cooperation
The Gem Sri Lanka 2027 was unveiled in Bangkok on 06 September 2026, bringing together key stakeholders to promote Sri Lanka’s gem and jewellery industry ahead of its fourth edition in January 2027. The launch was organised by the Ceylon Gem & Jewellery Traders Association (CGJTA).
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, attended the Opening Ceremony of the Chanthaburi International Gemstone Market Exhibition 2026.
The exhibition, held in Chanthaburi, one of Thailand’s renowned centres for the trading, cutting and processing of gemstones, aims to further promote Chanthaburi as a leading international hub for the gemstone and jewellery trade. It also provides an important platform for strengthening trade relations, expanding business networks and facilitating new commercial partnerships between Thailand and international participants.
The participation of the Sri Lankan Embassy reflects Sri Lanka’s strong interest in further developing cooperation with Thailand in the gem and jewellery sector, which remains an important area of Sri Lanka’s export and investment potential. Sri Lanka is internationally recognised for its high-quality natural gemstones, particularly Ceylon Sapphires, and has a well-established gem cutting, jewellery manufacturing and trading industry.
The exhibition brought together gemstone traders, jewellery businesses, manufacturers, industry professionals and international buyers, providing opportunities to exchange knowledge, explore market opportunities and establish new business connections.
During the event, the Ambassador engaged with representatives from the Thai and international gemstone and jewellery sectors and explored opportunities to enhance cooperation and business linkages between Sri Lankan and Thai companies.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka looks forward to facilitating stronger connections between the two countries’ private sectors and promoting Sri Lanka as a reliable partner and source of high-quality gemstones and jewellery in the international market.
The participation further contributes to the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to promote Sri Lanka–Thailand trade and investment relations and identify new opportunities for Sri Lankan businesses in the Thai market.
