Sri Lanka showcased strong commitment to sustainable financing at the Fifth Session of the Committee on Macroeconomic Policy, Poverty Reduction and Financing for Development held in Bangkok.
The Fifth Session of the Committee on Macroeconomic Policy, Poverty Reduction and Financing for Development was held from 19-21 November 2025 at the Unite Nations Conference Centre in Bangkok. The Session was opened by Ms. Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Executive Secretary of the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP). During the opening session, special remarks were made by H.E. Ahmed Mazin, Minister of State for
Finance and Planning of Maldives, Mr. Benjarong Suwankiri, Vice-Minister of Finance of Thailand and the Secretary-General of UNCTAD. The meeting brought together key member States,
including Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Kazakhstan, Malaysia, Maldives, Republic of Korea, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Türkiye, the United States of America, and Viet Nam, reflecting strong regional engagement in advancing inclusive and sustainable development financing.

The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and Sri Lankan Airlines, organized “Sri Lanka: Your Next Best Destination”, Tourism Promotional Evening, on 24 November 2025 at the Avani Riverside Hotel, Bangkok, to commemorate the 70th Anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand.

The prosperous city of Kandy comes to life every year with lights, fire dancers, acrobats, musicians, folk dancers, drummers, all accompanied by a unique ceremonial parade that dates back more than 1700. Kandy Esla Perhera, also known as Dalada Perhera or the “Festival of the Tooth Relics”, is the country’s finest Buddhist celebration. to receive blessings from God and make a wish for this island nation Rain will be requested in order to harvest crops abundantly. The festival will run for 11 days, comprising a series of ceremonies that will mesmerize audiences around the world. There will be another ceremonial procession on the streets of Kandy. แคนดี้ เอสละ เประเฮระ หรือที่รู้จักในอีกชื่อหนึ่งว่า ดะละดา เประเฮระ หรือ “เทศกาลแห่งพระธาตุเขี้ยวแก้ว” ถือเป็นงานเฉลิมฉลองของชาวพุทธที่ดีเสิศที่สุดของประเทศ เพื่อรับพรจากพระเจ้า และขอพรให้แก่ประเทศเกาะแห่งนี้ โดยจะมีการขอฝนเพื่อให้สามารถเก็บเกี่ยวพืชพรรณธัญญาหารได้อย่างอุดมสมบูรณ์ เทศกาลนี้จะจัดขึ้นเป็นเวลา 11 วัน ประกอบด้วยพิธีต่าง ๆ ที่จะสะกดสายตาผู้ชมทั่วโลก จะจัดให้มีขบวนพิธีขึ้นอีกครั้งบนท้องถนนในเมืองแคนดี้ ในระหว่างวันที่ 13 ถึง 23 สิงหาคม ภายใต้แนวปฏิบัติด้านสุขอนามัยและความปลอดภัย ในช่วงเวลาที่มีการแพร่ระบาดของโรคในปีนี้
