Sri Lanka Highlights Victim-Centered Consular Assistance at Regional Dialogue on Transnational Crime and Human Rights
A Regional Dialogue on the Nexus between Transnational Crime and Human Rights was successfully convened in Bangkok on 13–14 May 2026 under the auspices of the ASEAN Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR) Thailand in collaboration with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and with support from the Australian Human Rights Commission (AHRC).
Sacred Alms Giving Ceremony at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand honours Visiting Senior Buddhist Clergy
The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand organized a special alms giving ceremony at the Official Residence of the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand on 12 May 2026 in honour of the visiting Buddhist delegation led by Most Venerable Warakagoda Dhammasiddhi Sri Pagghananda Gnanarathanabidhana Mahanayake Thero, the Chief Incumbent of the historic Asgiri Maha Viharaya and the Mahanayake thero of the Asgiriya Chapter of the Siyamopali Maha Nikaya.
Delivering the remarks Ambassador-designate and Permanent Representative C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne who is also a member of the AIT Board of Trustees recalled the longstanding partnership between AIT and the Higher Education sector of Sri Lanka.
President Dr. Eden Woon of the AIT elaborated the combined benefits and significance of studying at AIT as well as new thematic fields of study including, Food Engineering & Water, Climate Change, Smart Communities, Infrastructure and Technology, Society & Policy.
Chairman Senior Professor Samapath Amaratunge of the UGC highlighted that the State Universities of Sri Lanka has now shifted to an online education mode with the pandemic and suitable collaboration with AIT could be considered for the benefit of Sri Lankan postgraduates.
Vice Chairman Senior Professor Chandana P. Udawatte of the UGC, Director of Advancement and Alumni Affairs Sanjeev Jayasinghe of AIT and other officials from the UGC, AIT and First Secretary Saritha Ranatunga of the Embassy participated at the discussion.
