The Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand, attended the Opening Ceremony of the Chanthaburi International Gemstone Market Exhibition 2026.
The exhibition, held in Chanthaburi, one of Thailand’s renowned centres for the trading, cutting and processing of gemstones, aims to further promote Chanthaburi as a leading international hub for the gemstone and jewellery trade. It also provides an important platform for strengthening trade relations, expanding business networks and facilitating new commercial partnerships between Thailand and international participants.

As part of her official visit to the Kingdom of Cambodia, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Cambodia, H.E. E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Sar Sokha, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the Kingdom of Cambodia, at the Ministry of Interior on 04 August 2026. The meeting underscored the shared commitment of Sri Lanka and Cambodia to further strengthening bilateral cooperation in addressing transnational organized crime, combating cyber-enabled fraud and human trafficking, and enhancing consular collaboration.

Today, there is a keen interest made by the Thai nationals in visiting Sri Lanka for pilgrim purposes said Ambassador-designate and Permanent Representative C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne in her remarks at the ‘Thai to the World Tourism Dialogue’ webinar organized by the Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) on 06th July 2021.

Opening the meeting President Suthiphong Pheunphiphop of the TTAA welcomed all Bangkok based diplomatic corps and their representatives joined from respective capitals. Thilak Weerasinghe, President of the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators joining from Colombo, appreciated the timely organizing of platform to connect with Thai Travel Agents.

The meeting was attended by Immediate Past President Mahen Kariyawasam and Hony. Secretary Nalin Jayasundara of the Sri Lanka Association of Inbound Tour Operators, Vice President Sanjeewa Ediri Wickramasooriya of the Thai- Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce and President of the Sri Lanka Association in Thailand and Actg. Managing Director Madubhani Perera of the Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau and First Secretary Saritha Ranatunga of the Embassy.

Director Marketing Dushan Wickramasuriya of Sri Lanka Tourism Promotion Bureau made a presentation on religious tourist attractions of Sri Lanka and readiness of Sri Lanka to welcome tourists under Safe and Secure Travel Protocol of Sri Lanka Tourism. Diplomats and representatives from Hong Kong, Macao, Malaysia, Indonesia, Ukraine, Nepal, South Africa, India, Taiwan, Korea, Singapore and Japan joined the session.
