Sri Lanka Permanent Representative Vice Chairs the High-Level Regional Consultation on Financing for Development in Asia and the Pacific in Bangkok

The High-Level Regional Consultation on Financing for Development in Asia and the Pacific concluded on 18.12.2024 at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) in Bangkok. The two-day event, held on 17 and 18 December 2024, brought together representatives from member states, international organizations, development partners, and other key stakeholders to discuss critical financing issues and strategies to accelerate progress toward sustainable development in the region.

Rajadhivas School, a prominent co-ed high school in the heart of Bangkok, with a history of over 100 years, warmly welcomed H.E. (Mrs.) Samantha K. Jayasuriya, Ambassador of Sri Lanka on 06 OCT 2020, as a kind gesture of friendship of young Thai students towards Sri Lanka. Mr. Ramet Musikanon, Director of the school, together with the students, scouts troupe and academic and administrative staff, introduced the schools specialized programmes including the projects under ‘Sufficiency Economy Policy – SEP’, social service programmes by the scouts, facilities for skills development of students with special needs, training facilities for Muay Thai (Thai kickboxing), etc. The Ambassador also paid a visit to Wat Rajadhivas, an ancient Buddhist temple in which HM King Rama IV has resided during his monk-hood. The Ambassador also paid homage to the Bodhi tree enshrined in the temple which has been brought from Sri Lanka around 200 years ago.
