Sri Lanka Ambassador Leads Tribute at Herostone (Nadukal) 2nd Anniversary Commemoration in Kanchanaburi,Thailand
The 2nd anniversary of the Herostone (Nadukal) was commemorated at Wat Thaworn Wararam, honoring the tens of thousands of Asian civilian forced laborers who perished during the construction of the Burma Railway construction, also known as the Thai-Burma “Death Railway,” during World War II.
Symbol of Faith and Friendship: Buddha Statue Gifted to Sri Lanka by Thai Devotees
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok is pleased to announce the ceremonial handover of a seven-foot-tall Buddha statue to the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, at Wat Hatainaresh Temple.
Ambassador (designate) to Thailand C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne called on Director General Chittipat Tongprasroeth of the Department of Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand on 03rd March 2021 and presented open copy of the Letter of Credence in order to request a Royal Audience with His Majesty the King Maha Vajiralongkorn of Thailand.
While congratulating the Ambassador (designate), Director General Chittipat reassured his government’s fullest cooperation during her tenure of office. Both recalled excellent bilateral relations enjoyed for many centuries.
Ambassador (designate) conveyed the best wishes of President Gotabaya Rajapaksa to the Government of Thailand and emphasized the importance of strengthening Economic Diplomacy while furthering already existing cultural ties.
Among other, they discussed included enhancing cooperation with Thailand International Cooperation Agency (TICA), investment promotions etc.
Ambassador (designate) was accompanied by First Secretary Poornima Gunasekera of the Embassy.
