Ambassador of Sri Lanka and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP discussed employment opportunities available for Sri Lankans in Thailand
Recently, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, C. A. Chaminda I. Colonne paid a courtesy call on the newly appointed Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labour of Thailand, Pairoj Chotikasathien at the Ministry of Labour of Thailand on 15.02.2024.
State Minister of Finance Shehan Semasinghe led the Sri Lanka Delegation to the 11th Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (11th APFSD) in Bangkok, Thailand
The State Minister of Finance, Shehan Semasinghe led the Sri Lanka Delegation to the 11th Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development (AFPSD) at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP) held from 20th to 23rd February 2024 in Bangkok, Thailand.
She further said “from Marco Polo who in the 13 Century identified Sri Lanka as the finest island of its size in the world, the present day travel market too has recognized Sri Lanka as the No 1 travel destination”.
The event also provided an opportunity to introduce the ‘visa fee free scheme’ offered by the Government of Sri Lanka to travelers from 48 countries including Thailand which is valid until 31st of January 2020. Interactive dialogue with senior officers of Thai Travel Agents Association (TTAA) and travel agents who attended the event helped to get a better insight about new trends and interests of Thai travelers.
Mr. Anil Sirimanna, First Secretary (Commerce), Ms. Saritha Ranatunga, Second Secretary of the Sri Lanka Embassy and Dr. Damian Fernando, Chief Operating Officer-Inbound of NKAR Travels & Tours (Pvt) LTD and 30 Thai travel agents participated at the event and discussion promoting the ‘So Sri Lanka’ brand.
