Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, participated in the 6th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand on 3โ€“4 April 2025. The Summit, hosted under the theme of regional resilience and prosperity, brought together leaders of the seven BIMSTEC Member States to strengthen cooperation and chart a forward-looking agenda for the region.

Finalizing MoU between AIT, Thailand and State Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research and Innovations of Sri Lanka on possible partnerships in skill development sector in Sri Lanka and MoU on Capacity Building PhD Partnership Programme between the AIT, Thailand and UGC, Sri Lanka were among the matters discussed during the meeting. While thanking for educational opportunities provided for Sri Lankan students for postgraduate studies, for furthering relations with Sri Lanka, Ambassador Chaminda Colonne invited Chairman Dr. Tongchat Hongladaromp and President Dr. Eden Y. Woon to visit Sri Lanka in the near future.
