The Ambassador of Sri Lanka & Permanent Representative to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe represented in the 15th Celebration of Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World, held at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall in Bangkok, together with her spouse and two daughters. The family proudly showcased costumes inspired by traditional Sri Lankan attire and crafted from Thai silk by students of Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka through a creative fusion with Thailandโ€™s renowned silk craftsmanship.

In a solemn and spiritually uplifting celebration of the International Day of Vesak 2026, the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka together with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Nepal in Bangkok jointly hosted a special commemorative event on 28 May 2026 at the iconic Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan (Wat Pho), one of Thailandโ€™s most sacred and historically significant Buddhist temples.

Finalizing MoU between AIT, Thailand and State Ministry of Skills Development, Vocational Education, Research and Innovations of Sri Lanka on possible partnerships in skill development sector in Sri Lanka and MoU on Capacity Building PhD Partnership Programme between the AIT, Thailand and UGC, Sri Lanka were among the matters discussed during the meeting. While thanking for educational opportunities provided for Sri Lankan students for postgraduate studies, for furthering relations with Sri Lanka, Ambassador Chaminda Colonne invited Chairman Dr. Tongchat Hongladaromp and President Dr. Eden Y. Woon to visit Sri Lanka in the near future.
