Sri Lanka and Thailand Deepen Defence Ties Through Staff College Delegation Visit

Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand Wijayanthi Edirisinghe and the delegation from the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) of Sri Lanka visited the National Defence Studies Institute (NDSI) of Thailand on 01 August 2025 in sideline to the study tour aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and strategic dialogue between Sri Lanka and Thailand. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Commanding General Pongtep Gaewchaiyo of the NDSI.

H.E. the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP together with staff of the Mission commenced work ceremonially, at the Chancery.
The event comprised hoisting of national flag, singing the national anthem, observing two-minute silence for war heroes, reading oath of Public Servants in Sinhala, English and Thai languages and delivering remarks by the Ambassador and Permanent Representative.
H.E. the Ambassador also outlined the role of employees of the Sri Lanka Missions abroad in order to overcome the prevailing economic crisis in the country and to achieve the Government’s vision under the theme of “A step forward towards the news century” during the next 25 years period, at a time celebrating the 75th Anniversary of Independence.
