Enhancing cooperation with Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) in Thailand

Sri Lanka–Thailand Medical Partnership to Deliver 71 Free Knee Surgeries
A special Buddhist fundraising event was held in support of a landmark humanitarian medical initiative aimed at enhancing access to orthopedic care in Sri Lanka.

15 Sri Lankans Rescued from Cybercrime Centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar to be Repatriated on 07 May 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, in close coordination with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Myanmar, has successfully facilitated the rescue of 15 Sri Lankan nationals who had been trafficked and forcibly employed in cybercrime centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar on 06th May 2025. The rescued individuals are scheduled to be repatriated to Sri Lanka on 07 May 2025.

In order to enhance cooperation with Neighbouring Countries Economic Development Cooperation Agency (NEDA) in Thailand, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, C. A. Chaminda I. Colonne, chaired an online discussion organised by the Mission on 14.02.2024 with NEDA.
Exchange of visits by the senior officials of the two countries to identify furthering of areas of future cooperation and providing NEDA’s assistance for the establishment of the Public Debt Management Office (PDMO) in Sri Lanka were discussed during the meeting.
Vice President of NEDA, Senior Col. Saranyu Viriyavejakul, Director of Policy Planning Bureau, Rapipat Promnart and Policy and Planning Analyst (Professional Level), Wasit Anuntavichien joined the discussion from NEDA.
Deputy Director General, Visakha Amarasekere and senior officials of the Department of External Resources, Director/South East Asia & Central Asia Division, Thilini Ihalage, Director/Economic Affairs Division, Buddhika Wimalasena of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and First Secretary (Commercial), Vireshika Bandara of the Mission participated the discussion.
