On 15 January 2026, H.E. Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkeow, Minister of Foreign Affairs, had a discussion with H.E. Mrs. E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, Ambassador of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka to Thailand, to raise the issue of the wellbeing of the two Thai elephants in Sri Lanka.

Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, paid an official visit to Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University (MCU) to discuss avenues for strengthening religious and academic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Thailand, rooted in their long-standing Theravada Buddhist heritage.

Weerakone, Director General of the Industrial Development Board, P. L. U. Rathnamalala, Officials of the Export Development Board, Sri Lanka Tea Board, Sri Lanka Handicrafts Board and National Gem and Jewellery Authority represented the Government institutions.
