Prime Minister of Sri Lanka, Dr. Harini Amarasuriya, participated in the 6th Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC) Summit held in Bangkok, Thailand on 3–4 April 2025. The Summit, hosted under the theme of regional resilience and prosperity, brought together leaders of the seven BIMSTEC Member States to strengthen cooperation and chart a forward-looking agenda for the region.

Times have changed, places and spaces have changed. Yet, the deep rooted traditions embedded in the Theravada Buddhist culture in Sri Lanka have continued for over several millennia -one of Asia’s most colorful cultural events – The Dalada Perahera in Kandy is being be held for the 1710th time this year from 25th July – 03rd August 2020 without presence of spectators in the context of COVID 19. Nevertheless, the live streaming will bring the majestic glory of Kandy Pageant to millions of eyes all over the world.
Comprising over 3000 dancers, drummers, whip crackers, acrobatic fire-ball dancers, and elephants, the final procession will parade the streets keeping all the rituals and traditions alive and vibrant, and invoking blessings for prosperity, and to ward off diseases.The most beautiful days in Kandy, adorned by the most colorful evenings, is a must see event, To pay homage to the sacred tooth relic of lord Buddha.
