Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, highlighted the importance of aligning fiscal consolidation with sustainable development at a high-level panel discussion on “Navigating Global Fiscal Stress: A Strategic Roadmap to Reverse SDG Regression”, held in Bangkok on 21 August 2026

Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand, E.A.S Wijayanthi Edirisinghe participated in the Gemports Award 2026 – The Vivid Legacy, Grand Final as the Guest of Honor, held on 15 August 2026 at the Event Hall, Jewelry Trade Center, Bangkok. The Ambassador joined together with General Sonthi Boonyaratglin, former Deputy Prime Minister, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), along with distinguished guests, industry leaders, designers, and representatives from the international gem and jewelry community.

සෞභාග්යයේ බලාපොරොත්තු පිබිදෙන උදාවන 2021 නව වසරට සුභාසිංසන පළ කරනුයේ ඉමහත් සතුටිනි.
සුරක්ෂිත දේශයක් ගොඩනැඟීම උදෙසා ජනතාව අප කෙරෙහි තැබූ විශ්වාසය කෘතවේදීව සිහිපත් කරමු.
නව රජයේ ගෙවී ගිය කාලය ඉතා කෙටි වුව ද එම කාලය ජනතාවගේ අභිලාශයන් සපුරනු පිණිස යෙදවීමට හැකිවීම අභිමානයකි. වසර පහක කාලයක් ඇනහිට තිබූ රටේ මානව හා භෞතික සංවර්ධන කටයුතු සඳහා නැවත පණ දීමට අපට හැකි විය. මැදහත්ව ඒ දෙස බලා ජනතාවට සතුටු විය හැකි ය.
ලොව අන් සියලු රටවල් මෙන් ම කොවිඩ්-19 වෛරසයේ අභියෝගයට අප රට ද මුහුණ දෙමින් ඇත. වෛරසයේ බලපෑම අවම කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් වෛද්යවරුන් ඇතුළු සෞඛ්ය කාර්ය මණ්ඩල, ත්රිවිධ හමුදාව, පොලීසිය ඇතුළු ආරක්ෂක අංශ, රාජ්ය නිලධාරීන් හා කාර්ය මණ්ඩල විසි හතර පැය පුරා නිරත මෙහෙවරට අපගේ ප්රණාමය හිමි විය යුතු ය.
රජය ද කොව්ඩ්-19 වසංගතය කළමනාකරණය කිරීම වෙනුවෙන් ජනතාව මත බර නො වැටෙන පරිදි කටයුතු කිරීමට උපරිම මැදිහත්වීම ලබා දෙමින් ඇත. සෞඛ්ය මාර්ගෝපදේශ පිළිපදින විනයගරුක ජනතාවගෙන් ඒ සඳහා ලැබෙන සහයෝගය ද සුළුපටු නැත. රට හමුවේ ඇති මෙම අභියෝග නව වසරේ එක්ව ජයගත හැකි ය.
දේශීයත්වයට මුල් තැන ලැබෙන රජයේ ආර්ථික දැක්ම ඔස්සේ රට තුළ නව ආර්ථික හා සංවර්ධන විප්ලවයක් ඇති වන බව ස්ථීර ය. ඒ තුළ ඔබගේත් රටේත් අනාගතය සෞභාග්ය උදාවනු ඇත.
ඉතා ලඝු කරුණු අරබයා තව දුරටත් අප බෙදී වෙන් වී සිටිය යුතු නැත. අපේ මාතෘභූමිය වෙනුවෙන් අද අප වෙහෙසෙන්නේත් කැපවන්නේත් අපේ මතු පරපුරේ යහපත වෙනුවෙනි. එහෙයින් එක ම ශ්රී ලාංකික ජාතියක් ලෙස සමාජ සංස්කෘතික හා ආගමික සහජීවනය පෙරදැරිව රට ගොඩනැඟීමට එළැඹෙන නව වසර අවස්ථාවක් කරගන්නැයි සමස්ත ජනතාවගෙන් ඉල්ලා සිටිමි.

Prime Minister’s New Year Message
New Year is a hopeful time for all of us, as we bid farewell to 2020, we must welcome the new year with renewed strength and determination.
We are filled with gratitude for the unfaltering support the Sri Lankan people have instilled in our government to create an inclusive, and safe Sri Lanka for all. During the short tenure of our government, we take great pride in being able to recommence solving public grievances, and working towards the betterment of our community. After five years of political stagnation, we were able to restart our social and economic growth amidst a pandemic, and so we appreciate the unwavering support of the Sri Lankan people.
In our shared quest to combat the COVID-19 pandemic, I would like to commend the work done by our dedicated frontline staff.
Healthcare workers, the armed forces, police and security, government officials and staff, volunteers, everyone who has helped our nation reduce the impact of the virus. While 2020 was a difficult year for all of us in Sri Lanka and around the world, this year has been a true test of our spirit.
The Sri Lankan community has showed their true mettle in these difficult times, and as we reflect back on this year, let us all believe that brighter days are ahead of us.
Even though our challenges remain great, the Sri Lankan spirit and perseverance remains greater, and it is this spirit that will enable us to overcome the obstacles of this global pandemic as a nation and inspire our future generations
