On 22nd July 2024, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Cambodia with residence in Bangkok and Permanent Representative to the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and Pacific (UNESCAP), C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne and Spouse Stephen Senanayake was granted an audience by His Majesty King Preah Bat Norodom Sihamoni of the Kingdom of Cambodia to bid farewell at the Royal Palace in Phnom Penh.

Expanding Sri Lanka’s export basket to Thailand, the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, introduced the National Crafts Council of Sri Lanka and prominent Sri Lankan businessmen to CP Group which owns renowned retail chains, Lotus’s, Macro and Seven Eleven in Thailand.

මහලේකම්තුමනි,
මැතිඳුනි,
ආයුබෝවන්!
මහා මණ්ඩලයේ 75 වන සැසිවාරයේ සභාපති ධුරයට තේරී පත් වූ වොල්කන් බොස්කිර් මැතිතුමාට මගේ සුභාශිංසන පළ කරමි. මේ ඓතිහාසික අවස්ථාවේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ ජනතාව නියෝජනය කිරීමට ලැබීම මට මහත් ගෞරවයකි.
අවාසනාවකට මෙන්, අද ලෝකය මින් වසර 75 කට පෙර මේ ගෞරවනීය සභාවේ නිර්මාතෘවරු අපේක්ෂා කළ තත්ත්වයට වෙනස්ය. මාස කිහිපයක් ඇතුළත අපේ ආර්ථිකයන්, සෞඛ්‍ය පද්ධති සහ සැබැවින්ම අපගේ සමාජ අඩපණ කළ පෙර නොවූ විරූ කොවිඩ් – 19 වසංගතයෙන් ලෝකය පීඩාවට පත්ව ඇත.
දැනුවත් මැදිහත් වීමක් මගින් කොවිඩ් – 19 අභියෝගයට සාර්ථකව මුහුණ දීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකාවට හැකිවිය. අප කොවිඩ් – 19 නිවාරණ ජාතික ක්‍රියාකාරී කමිටුව පත් කළේ ශ්‍රී ලංකාව පළමු රෝගියා හඳුනාගැනීමටත් පෙරය. අපේ ප්‍රවේශය ආරක්ෂක අංශ, සෞඛ්‍ය මෙන්ම ජාතික හා ප්‍රාදේශීය ම‍ට්ටමේ සිවිල් අධිකාරීන්ගෙන් සංයුක්ත විය.
ශ්‍රී ලංකාවේ කොවිඩ් – 19 රෝගීන් සුව වීමේ අනුපාතය සියයට 90 ඉක්මවන අතර එය ගෝලීය සුව වීමේ අනුපාතයට ඉහළ අගයකි. අපේ සාර්ථකත්වයට බොහෝ සේ පිටිවහලක් වූයේ අපගේ ප්‍රබලම ශක්තිය වන “සොයා ගැනීම හා නිරෝධායනයයි”. යන්න නිසාය.
ගත වූ මාසයකට වැඩි කාලය ඇතුලත කිසිදු කොරෝනා අසාධිතයෙකු රට තුළින් වාර්තා වී නැත.
ගරු රාජ්‍ය නායක / නායිකාවනි,
ධරණීය සංවර්ධන න්‍යාය පත්‍රය 2030 සාක්ෂාත් කර ගැනීමට ශ්‍රී ලංකාව කැප වී සිටී. කෘෂිකාර්මික පදනමක් සහිත නිෂ්පාදන ආර්ථිකයක් තුළින් දරිද්‍රතාව පිටුදැකීම මගේ රජයේ ප්‍රධාන අභිමතාර්ථයකි.
අප වසර මුලදී දේශීය නිෂ්පාදන ප්‍රවර්ධනය සඳහා ගත් ක්‍රියාමාර්ග කිහිපයක් වන ආනයන මත අර්ධ සීමා පැනවීම හා කුඩා හා මධ්‍යම පරිමාණ ව්‍යවසායකයන්ට සහන සැලසීම මගින් අපේක්ෂිත ප්‍රතිලාභ අත්කර ගැනීමට හැකිවිය.
ශ්‍රී ලංකාව එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සාමාජිකත්වය ලබා වසර 65 සමරන අපි එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ න්‍යාය පත්‍රයට දායක වීමට ලැබීම භාග්‍යයක් ලෙස සලකමු. ශ්‍රී ලංකාව එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සාම සාධක මෙහෙයුම්වලට මෙන්ම සංවිධානයේ විශේෂිත ආයතන සැලසුම් කරන වැඩසටහන් බොහොමයකට දායක වී ඇත.
ලෝකය පොදු හා අසමාන තර්ජනයකට මුහුණ පා සිටින මෙවන් සමයක, “අපට අවශ්‍ය එක්සත් ජාතීන්” (United Nations We Need) යන පාඨය රාජ්‍යයන්ගේ ස්වෛරී සමානාත්මතාව, භෞමික අඛණ්ඩතාවට දක්වන ගෞරවය සහ අභ්‍යන්තර කටයුතු වලට මැදිහත් නොවීම යන පැතිකඩ නිසි අවධාරණයට ලක් කරන බව මම විශ්වාස කරමි.
ගරු මැතිඳුනි, සාමාජික රටවල් සහ එක්සත් ජාතීන් අතර හවුල්කාරීත්වය සහ එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ තිරසර පැවැත්ම උපරිමයෙන් සාක්ෂාත් කරගත හැක්කේ සුළු පිරිසකගේ අවශ්‍යතාවට කිසිදු රටක් ප්‍රාණ ඇපයට නොගැනීමෙන් බව මම තර‍යේ විශ්වාස කරමි.
එක්සත් ජාතීන්ගේ සාමාජිකයන් වන අප අපට අවශ්‍ය අනාගතය සහතික කිරීම පිණිස මෙම ශ්‍රේෂ්ඨ සංවිධානය ශක්තිමත් කිරීමට ගනු ලබන ප්‍රයත්නයන් සාර්ථක කර ගැනීමට හැකිවනු ඇතැයි ශ්‍රී ලංකාව බලාපොරොත්තු වන්නෙමු.
අපේ ජනතාවට සහ අනාගත පරම්පරාවන්ට එකී වගකීම ඉටු කිරීමට අපි බැඳී සිටින්නෙමු.

Mr. President,
Mr. Secretary-General, Excellencies,
Ayubowan !
Your Excellency Volkan Bozkir, I congratulate you on being elected as the President of the 75th Session of the General Assembly.
I am deeply honoured to represent the people of Sri Lanka on this historic occasion.
Unfortunately, the world is not what the founders of this august body envisaged 75 years ago.
The world is plagued by the unprecedented COVID-19 pandemic, which has jeopardized our economies, health systems and indeed our societies, just within a few months.
Sri Lanka was able to successfully face the challenge of COVID-19 through a proactive intervention. We established the National Action Committee for Preventing COVID-19 even before the first patient was detected in Sri Lanka. Our approach synchronized the military, health as well as civilian authorities of national and regional levels.
Sri Lanka‟s recovery rate stands at over 90% well above the global recovery rate. Our success story owes much to our reliance upon “tracing and quarantine‟, which was our greatest strength.
Sri Lanka has not reported a single case arising within the local society for over a month now.
Excellencies,
Sri Lanka has committed to the 2030 Agenda of Sustainable Development. Poverty alleviation through an agri-based production economy is a major goal of my Government.
The steps that we had initiated earlier this year for enhancing local production, partial restrictions on imports as well as assisting small and medium scale entrepreneurs paid their dividend.
As we celebrate 65 years of UN membership this year, Sri Lanka is pleased to have contributed significantly to United Nation‟s agenda, ranging from peacekeeping operations to programmes of its specialized agencies.
At a time when the world is facing a common and an unrivalled threat, the “United Nations We Need”, I am certain, will place due emphasis on the sovereign equality of States, respect for territorial integrity and non-interference in their domestic affairs.
Excellencies,
I firmly believe that partnerships fostered between Member States and the UN continues at their best when no country is held hostage to the interests of a few.
Sri Lanka is hopeful that we of the United Nations would rededicate ourselves in efforts to strengthen this great institution to ensure the future we want. We owe our peoples and future generations no less.
