Ambassador of Sri Lanka Participates in the 15th Celebration of Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka & Permanent Representative to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe represented in the 15th Celebration of Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World, held at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall in Bangkok, together with her spouse and two daughters. The family proudly showcased costumes inspired by traditional Sri Lankan attire and crafted from Thai silk by students of Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka through a creative fusion with Thailand’s renowned silk craftsmanship.
Sri Lanka Illuminate Bangkok with the Spirit of Vesak at Historic Wat Pho
In a solemn and spiritually uplifting celebration of the International Day of Vesak 2026, the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka together with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Nepal in Bangkok jointly hosted a special commemorative event on 28 May 2026 at the iconic Wat Phra Chetuphon Wimon Mangkhalaram Rajwaramahawihan (Wat Pho), one of Thailand’s most sacred and historically significant Buddhist temples.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to the Kingdom of Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe graced the “Members’ Connect 2025” Fellowship and Business Networking Event hosted by the Thai–Sri Lanka Chamber of Commerce (TSLCC) on 27 September 2025 at the Grande Centrepoint Surawong, Bangkok, as Guest of Honour.
The evening brought together TSLCC members, invited guests, Thai chambers, business community for an engaging event of networking and celebration. The event commenced with welcome remarks by the President of TSLCC, followed by a detailed progress report outlining the chamber’s recent initiatives and achievements.
In her address, Ambassador Wijayanthi Edirisinghe commended the TSLCC for its continued support in promoting bilateral trade and economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Thailand. She emphasized the importance of such platforms in fostering business connectivity, strengthening partnerships, and expanding opportunities for both Sri Lankan and Thai enterprises.
Dr. Supareak Charlie Chomchan, Vice Chairman of the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT), also addressed the gathering reiterating the role of collaborative networks in enhancing regional economic growth.
The evening’s highlights included the launch of the TSLCC Member Card and Benefits Programme, formal recognition of partners, and a ceremonial handover of TSLCC pins and badges.
As part of the evening’s discussions, the Ambassador and TSLCC leadership also explored avenues for deeper collaboration between the Embassy and the Chamber. Plans for joint initiatives, trade promotion activities, and business delegations were discussed, with a shared commitment to further strengthening Sri Lanka–Thailand economic and commercial ties in the coming year.
