Ambassador of Sri Lanka & Permanent Representative to the Kingdom of Thailand E.A.S Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, participated in the “CTBT@30: 30 Years of the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) in ASEAN” Youth Outreach Event, jointly organized by the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO) and the Office of Atoms for Peace (OAP) in Bangkok.
Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok Facilitates High-Level Economic Engagements during the Official Visit of Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development to Thailand
The Deputy Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development of Sri Lanka, Chathuranga Abeysinghe, undertook an official visit to Thailand to participate in the UNDP Youth Co Lab Summit, held in Bangkok, where policymakers, development partners, entrepreneurs, and youth leaders from across the Asia-Pacific region gathered to discuss innovative solutions for sustainable and inclusive economic development.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to UNESCAP, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, visited Wat Phra Dhammakaya on 21 July 2026 to further strengthen religious and cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
The Ambassador was warmly welcomed by Phra Khru Sumuh Sanitwong Wutthiwanso, Assistant Abbot and Director of the Public Relations Office of Wat Phra Dhammakaya, together with Phra Ajarn Kittipong Hemavanso, Head of the International Organizations Division, and other monks from the International Affairs Office.
During the visit, videos introducing Wat Phra Dhammakaya and Dhammayatra in Sri Lanka were screened, followed by a meditation session. The Ambassador was subsequently taken on a tour of several significant sites within the temple complex, including the Ordination Hall, the Tripitaka, the Phra Maha Dhammakaya Chedi and the World Peace exhibition hall.
During the visit, Ambassador Edirisinghe requested the assistance of Wat Phra Dhammakaya in supporting the development of Sri Lankan temples and facilitating the participation of Sri Lankan monks and devotees in the annual Dhamma programme organized by the temple. Ambassador Edirisinghe also met with five Sri Lankan novice monks participating in the AEC and WAB International Monastic Ordination Project, who were engaged in practicing the ordination ceremony.
The visit provided an opportunity to exchange views on religious cooperation and to further strengthen the longstanding Buddhist and cultural ties between Sri Lanka and Thailand. The Embassy of Sri Lanka looks forward to continued cooperation with Wat Phra Dhammakaya in promoting religious understanding, Buddhist exchanges and people-to-people relations between the two countries.
