Ambassador of Sri Lanka, E.A.S Wijayanthi Edirisinghe explores avenues to strengthens collaboration with Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) of Thailand
Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok Participates in the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams in Bangkok
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, in partnership with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), successfully co-hosted the International Conference on the Global Partnership against Online Scams in Bangkok, Thailand. The Conference aimed to strengthen and complement ongoing regional and international efforts to combat online scams and to enhance global cooperation to address existing operational gaps in tackling this complex form of transnational crime. The event brought together over 300 participants from 60 countries, including ministerial-level representatives, senior officials, international organizations, the private sector, and civil society.
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP Chairs 421st Session of the ACPR in Bangkok
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, participated in the 421st Session of the Advisory Committee of Permanent Representatives (ACPR) held at the United Nations premises in Bangkok. The Ambassador was invited to chair the final ACPR session of the year, reflecting Sri Lanka’s active and constructive engagement with the UN system in the region.
E.A.S Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, met Bhmivisan Kasemsook, the Secretary-General of the Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) of Thailand to explore potential collaborations aimed at enhancing anti-corruption efforts in both nations on 11.10.2024.
Secretary-General Bhmivisan Kasemsook provided a comprehensive presentation outlining the roles and responsibilities of the PACC, highlighted the importance of international cooperation in combating corruption.
During the meeting, Ambassador Edirisinghe emphasized the importance of strengthening institutional frameworks and sharing best practices in combating corruption.
Ambassador further briefed the Secretary-General implementation of the national action plan for combating Bribery and corruption in Sri Lanka on the regular workshops and awareness programmes carried out by of the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) of Sri Lanka for public servants and informed that Anti-Corruption Act was enacted by the Parliament in 2023.
Secretary-General Bhmivisan Kasemsook appreciated initiatives taken by the Government of Sri Lanka on in addressing corruption cases and ensuring the enforcement of anti-corruption laws. Ambassador Edirisinghe assured to enhance the collaboration between the Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) of Thailand and the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC) of Sri Lanka.
Both sides explored potential avenues for bilateral collaboration, aiming to strengthen anti-corruption initiatives and share best practices between their nations. Head of Chancery/first secretary A.W.S. Samanmali, Attache Anjana Ileperuma and senior officials from Office of Public Sector Anti-Corruption Commission (PACC) of Thailand were at discussion.
