Ambassador of Sri Lanka Honoured with the Distinguished Dhamma Award at the Ceremony of the Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus Training Programme in Thailand
The Certificate Conferment Ceremony of the Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus Training Programme Class 32, Dhammaduta Certificate Programme Class 3, and Vipassana Meditation Certificate Programme (International Programme) Class 2 was held on 4 June 2026 at Mahachulalongkornrajavidyalaya University, in Thailand. During the ceremony, Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, H.E. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe was honoured with the Distinguished Dhamma Award in recognition of her contribution and support towards the promotion of Buddhist relations and cooperation.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka Participates in the 15th Celebration of Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World
The Ambassador of Sri Lanka & Permanent Representative to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe represented in the 15th Celebration of Silk: Thai Silk Road to the World, held at the Royal Thai Navy Convention Hall in Bangkok, together with her spouse and two daughters. The family proudly showcased costumes inspired by traditional Sri Lankan attire and crafted from Thai silk by students of Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of Sri Lanka through a creative fusion with Thailand’s renowned silk craftsmanship.
Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Cambodia, Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, recently met with the President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce, Neak Oknha Kith Meng to discuss avenues for strengthening bilateral trade, investment and economic cooperation between Sri Lanka and Cambodia.
During the meeting, Ambassador Edirisinghe emphasized Sri Lanka’s commitment to deepening economic ties with Cambodia and fostering collaboration in key areas, including tourism, manufacturing, logistics and agriculture. She also emphasized the expanding presence of Sri Lankan businesses in Cambodia, especially in the finance, logistics, IT, and tourism sectors, and pointed out the rising interest among additional IT companies to seek opportunities in the Cambodian market.
The President of the Cambodia Chamber of Commerce expressed his keen interest in enhancing bilateral business interactions and invited a business delegation from Sri Lanka to visit Cambodia. He noted that IT know-how is a crucial factor for Cambodia’s economic advancement and expressed interest in learning from Sri Lanka’s expertise in this area. He announced plans to visit Sri Lanka with a business delegation to explore further cooperation, particularly in the IT sector.
Ambassador Edirisinghe reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s dedication to strengthening economic and commercial partnerships with Cambodia, underscoring the potential for collaboration in the identified key sectors. Both parties agreed on the importance of fostering business exchanges and promoting joint ventures to benefit both countries’ economies.
