Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok Marks National Integrity Week with Integrity Pledge

The Staff of the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok joined the national initiative “A Culture of Integrity – A Clean Sri Lanka” at the commencement of the National Integrity Week on 27 July 2026 by taking the Integrity Oath/Pledge 2026 during the formal ceremony held at the Embassy. Ambassador of Sri Lanka and Permanent Representative to UNESCAP, H.E. E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, together with the staff of the Embassy, participated in the ceremony.

A delegation of 20 members from the Defence Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) of Sri Lanka, Course No. 20, paid an official visit to the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Bangkok on Thursday, 30 July 2026, as part of their overseas study tour in Thailand.

Welcoming the delegation, the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, H.E. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe, highlighted the importance of professional military education and international engagement in strengthening defence diplomacy and fostering mutual understanding among friendly nations. She noted that the visit reflected the close and longstanding defence relationship between Sri Lanka and Thailand and would further enhance cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries.

The Ambassador expressed confidence that the study tour would provide valuable professional exposure and meaningful interactions with the Royal Thai Armed Forces and other key institutions, thereby enriching the participants’ academic and professional development. She also encouraged the delegation to experience Thailand’s rich cultural heritage and renowned hospitality during their stay.

The delegation was headed by Colonel Nalaka Liyanarachchi, Head of the Training Team (Army Wing), and comprised three Directing Staff representing the Army, Navy, and Air Force, ten Sri Lankan student officers, and four international student officers from India, Malaysia, Nepal, and Rwanda, bringing the total strength of the delegation to 20 members.

The Ambassador further conveyed her appreciation to the Defence Attaché of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, Air Commodore Vajira Jayakody, for coordinating the study tour programme and facilitating official visits.

During their stay in Thailand, the delegation is scheduled to visit several military establishments and defence-related institutions, including the Royal Thai Army, Royal Thai Navy, Royal Thai Air Force, the Defence Technology Institute, and other organizations relevant to the study programme, with the objective of enhancing professional knowledge and promoting defence cooperation.

The Embassy extended its best wishes for a successful and productive study tour and reaffirmed its commitment to further strengthening defence cooperation, military education, and professional exchanges between Sri Lanka and Thailand.
