Strengthening Post-Disaster Recovery Cooperation: Ambassador of Thailand Meets Executive Director of ADPC
The Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Sri Lanka to Thailand, E.A.S. Wijayanthi Edirisinghe had a meeting with Mr. Aslam Perwaiz, Executive Director of the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) at the ADPC premises, to discuss continued cooperation in post-disaster recovery and long-term resilience building in Sri Lanka following the devastation caused by Cyclone Ditwah. During the meeting, H.E. the Ambassador expressed
her sincere appreciation for the timely technical and monetary assistance extended by ADPC in response to the impacts of Cyclone Ditwah, which caused widespread damage across several parts of Sri Lanka. The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Bangkok, Thailand ceremonially commenced work for the year 2026 on 02 January, in keeping with government directives on the commencement of duties of public institutions for the New Year.
นายเชฮาน เสมาสิงเหอะ รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงการคลังนำคณะผู้แทนศรีลังกาเข้าร่วมการประชุม Asia Pacific Forum on Sustainable Development ครั้งที่ 11 ระหว่างวันที่ 20–23 กุมภาพันธ์ 2567 ณ คณะกรรมการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมเอเชียและแปซิฟิกแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNESCAP) กรุงเทพฯ ประเทศไทย
เมื่อ วันที่ 19 กุมภาพันธ์ 2567 นายเชฮาน เสมาสิงเหอะ รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงการคลัง เข้าร่วม การอภิปรายระดับสูงภายใต้หัวข้อ “New Frontier on Social Protection in a Changing World – Towards a vision for shared progress in Asia Pacific” โดยในการอภิปรายรัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงการคลัง ได้กล่าวถึงการปฏิรูปการคุ้มครองทางสังคม (social protection) อันกลายเป็นหนึ่งในวาระการปฏิรูปที่สำคัญของ รัฐบาลศรีลังกา ซึ่งช่วยรัฐบาลดำเนินการปฏิรูปโครงสร้างภาษี ราคาสาธารณูปโภค และการปฏิรูปรัฐวิสาหกิจ เพื่อปกป้องครัวเรือนที่มีรายได้น้อยและกลุ่มผู้เปราะบางผ่านกลไกทางเลือก นอกจากนี้ รัฐมนตรีช่วยว่าการกระทรวงการคลังได้เน้นย้ำถึงการริเริ่มปฏิรูปเศรษฐกิจมหภาคที่ครอบคลุม ซึ่งส่งผลเชิงบวกต่อเศรษฐกิจ เห็นได้ชัดจากตัวชี้วัดเสถียรภาพและการเจริญเติบโตทางเศรษฐกิจ รวมไปถึงการแก้ปัญหาความขาดแคลน ด้วยสภาพคล่องของอัตราแลกเปลี่ยนระหว่างประเทศที่เพียงพอในระบบธนาคาร ตลอดจนการยกเลิกข้อจำกัด การนำเข้าสินค้า ล้วนส่งผลต่อการลดลงของเงินเฟ้ออย่างมีนัยสำคัญจากร้อยละ 70 สู่ร้อยละ 6.4 ในเดือนมกราคมของปี 2567 และการเพิ่มมูลค่าขึ้นของสกุลเงินรูปีศรีลังกา
การอภิปรายข้างต้น นางสาวอามิดา ซาลซิอา อาลิสจาห์บานา เลขาธิการคณะกรรมการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมเอเชียและแปซิฟิกแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNESCAP) พร้อมด้วย นายปานปรีย์ พหิทธานุกร รองนายกรัฐมนตรีและรัฐมนตรีว่าการกระทรวงการต่างประเทศไทย รวมไปถึง นายอมินา เจ โมฮัมเม็ด รองเลขาธิการคณะกรรมการเศรษฐกิจและสังคมเอเชียและแปซิฟิกแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNESCAP) ได้ทำการเปิดการอภิปราย ตามลำดับ
การอภิปรายครั้งนี้ถูกจัดขึ้นเพื่อทบทวนความก้าวหน้าของเป้าหมายการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืนประจำภูมิภาค ในเป้าหมายต่าง ๆ อาทิ เป้าหมายที่ 1 (ยุติความยากจน) เป้าหมายที่ 2 (ยุติความหิวโหย) เป้าหมายที่ 13 (การปฏิบัติการเพื่อต่อสู่กับการเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสภาพภูมิอากาศ) เป้าหมายที่ 16 (สันติภาพ ความยุติธรรม และสถาบันที่มีประสิทธิภาพ) และเป้าหมายที่ 17 (ความร่วมมือระดับโลกเพื่อการพัฒนาที่ยั่งยืน) โดยจะมีการรายงานผลลัพธ์ในการประชุมทางการเมืองระดับสูงในเดือนกรกฎาคม และการประชุมระดับผู้นำในเดือนกันยายนปี 2567 ณ นครนิวยอร์ก
ในห้วงการประชุม APFSD ครั้งที่ 11 ธนาคารพัฒนาเอเชีย (ADB) และโครงการพัฒนาแห่งสหประชาชาติ (UNDP) ได้ร่วมกันนำเสนอรายงาน “Asia-Pacific SDG Partnership” ประจำปี 2567 ภายใต้หัวข้อ “People and Planet” ซึ่งเป็นการกล่าวถึงความท้าทายที่เชื่อมโยงกับการ ปลี่ยนแปลงสภาพภูมิอากาศ ความยากจน ความอดอยากในภูมิภาคเอเชียแปซิฟิก
ทั้งนี้ คณะผู้แทนศรีลังกาประกอบไปด้วย นาง ซี เอ ชามินดา ไอ โคลอนนี่ เอกอัครราชทูตและผู้แทนถาวรศรีลังกาประจำประเทศไทย พร้อมด้วยนางชามินดรี ซาปารามาดู อธิบดีสภาการพัฒนาเพื่อความยั่งยืน รวมไปถึง นาง เอ ดับเบิลยู เอส สามานมาลี เลขานุการเอกและรองผู้แทนถาวรศรีลังกาประจำประเทศไทย และ นางวิเรชิก้า บันดารา เลขานุการเอก ฝ่ายการค้าและรองผู้แทนถาวรศรีลังกาประจำประเทศไทย
