A special Buddhist fundraising event was held in support of a landmark humanitarian medical initiative aimed at enhancing access to orthopedic care in Sri Lanka.

15 Sri Lankans Rescued from Cybercrime Centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar to be Repatriated on 07 May 2025
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism, in close coordination with the Embassy and Permanent Mission of Sri Lanka in Thailand and the Embassy of Sri Lanka in Myanmar, has successfully facilitated the rescue of 15 Sri Lankan nationals who had been trafficked and forcibly employed in cybercrime centres in Myawaddy, Myanmar on 06th May 2025. The rescued individuals are scheduled to be repatriated to Sri Lanka on 07 May 2025.

On 20th December 2023, Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Thailand and Permanent Representative
to UNESCAP, C.A. Chaminda I. Colonne discussed with Dr. Pongthai Thaiyothin, the Deputy
Director-General of the Department of Agriculture on the progress of the consideration of the
application to open the market of 5 types of Sri Lankan fruits, namely fresh fire coconut, wood
apple, pineapple, dragon fruit, and Scotch Bonnet pepper at the Department of Agriculture of
Thailand.
Speedy implementation of the MoU on Agricultural Cooperation and MoU on cooperation on the Application of Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures signed in 2004 were also discussed.
Director of International Agricultural Affairs Group, Margaret Yoovatana, Agricultural Research Officer, Senior Professional Level, Waranya Malee, Scientist, Senior Professional Level, Ngamjit Duangdee, and senior officials of the Department of Agriculture of Thailand, and First Secretary (Commercial), Vireshika Bandara of the mission joined the discussion.
